Yash Raj Steals "New York"'s Script, Claims Suchitra

Scriptwriter Suchitra Bhatia claims that ‘New York’ was her story which she has penned three years back and even narrated the script to Yash Raj Films Arjun Sablok. Suchitra expressed her shock that Yash Raj has made a film on the script written by her without her knowledge. Her story titled, Osama – A Love Story.

Suchita said, “I wrote to Aditya Chopra in August 2006 regarding two stories I had. He asked director Arjun Sablok to get in touch with me. He contacted me and we fixed up a meeting at the YRF studio. On September 1, I met Arjun and narrated two story ideas to him. He was extremely happy with the stories. I still remember him exclaiming ‘Wow!’ I kept writing to him, but there was no response and I gave up as I got busy with other work. To my surprise, after three years, I saw New York and was disheartened to know what they had done: using my story without even informing me, let alone give me any credit.”

Suchitra said that she has written to Aditya Chopra and Arjun Sablok but did not get any reply from them. She has registered her script with the Writer’s association in 2006 and filed a complaint with the association.

However, Arjun Sablok denies the news and claimed it is nothing more then a cheap publicity by the scriptwriter.

Kambakkht Ishq | Guaranteed Paisa Vasool

Everyone's hoping [and praying] that KAMBAKKHT ISHQ does the trick. How did Sabbir bag this prestigious project? "The sole person responsible for pushing me to this stage is Sajid Nadiadwala. I'm here because of his persistent confidence in me," Sabbir reveals, adding in the same breath that Sajid noticed the spark in him after he assisted David Dhawan in MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI.

Casting the Hollywood bigwigs must've been tough. "It all started when I made a joke and Sajidbhai ended up taking it seriously. He managed to convince the actors and made it possible," Sabbir says, adding in the same breath, "Working with them [the Hollywood stars] is something I'll never forget. I'd like to recall a particular incident, while shooting with Stallone. We were shooting at Kodak Theatre and had a crowd of approx. 6,000 people that day. There was so much noise then, but the moment Stallone walked on stage, there was pin-drop silence. Such is the charisma of that man."

What is Sabbir's next move? His next movie? "Right now, I just want to take a long vacation and may be, write. My next film will be with Sajidbhai again, which is scheduled to go on floors next year," he reveals.

Once more for Akshay and Kareena

Until she happened to meet Mr.Akshay Kumar, it wasn’t easy for Katrina Kaif to survive in Bollywood given what a not-actress kind of a girl she was despite of all the help and support from Salman Khan.

Akshay Kumar too was in search of a perfect screen partner following his wife Twinkle Khanna’s ban on him for working with Priyanka Chopra after there were too many talks of their link-up. On the other side, Katrina Kaif too did not know anything about acting.

Two of them have worked in many superhit films like Namastey London , Welcome and Singh Is King together.

Both of them like to do the same thing over and over again and that was the reason Chandni Chowk To China fell flat on its face and the chemistry with Deepika didn’t work at all. Katrina’s movie with beau Salman Khan - Yuvvraaj did badly too.

So Akshay quickly recommended Katrina’s name when director Priyandarshan was making a choice of heroine for his next venture, De Dhana Dhan as he wanted to repeat the reel chemistry.

13B Shocks Critics, Movie Review

Film: 13B (Horror)
Cast: R. Madhavan, Neetu Chandra, Sachin Khedekar
Direction: Vikram K Kumar
Duration: 2 hours 25 minutes
Critic's Rating: ***1/2

Now this one's a neat little goosebump that keeps the chill factor on simmer, both in terms of content and charisma (read style). Generally, desi horror flicks end up low on story and crumble in the climax, relegating the suspense and gore to some mumbo-jumbo about witchcraft and voodoo. Rarely do they come up with some satisfactory explanation for all the paranormal bhoot lore on screen, before the closing reels. But that's not the case with 13B. On the one hand, it keeps the scare element brewing through most of the film, with danger and death lurking at every twisted turn. On the other, it blends the supra-normal with the normal, to give you a plausible reason for all the strange occurrences on screen. More importantly, it makes a topical dig on the 21st century global obsession: the all-pervasive -- and prying -- influence of television which seems to have completely taken over our lives. And if that's not a strong-enough statutory warning, the innocuous idiot box may soon be replaced by the inimical mobile as a sanity-threatening device, it concludes. Experts are already stating that 53 per cent of mobile phone users are suffering from nomophobia, (no mobile phobia) a fear of being without their mobile. So there! 13B begins on a cheery note.

A happy family, that happens to be a microcosm of the Great Indian Parivar, moves into a new flat that has been bought by the two brothers (Madhavan and co.) after incurring a hefty loan. The upwardly mobile brothers don't mind and begin their day on a joyous note, with the wives (Neetu Chandra and co.) merrily gossiping in the kitchen, the kids boisterously preparing for school and college and the mother (Poonam Dhillon) affably clamouring for a cable connection, since she cannot bear to miss a single episode of her saas-bahu soaps. Picture perfect, did you say? Well, almost. Just that the milk gets curdled every day, the portraits of the gods can't be hung on the impenetrable walls, the lift doesn't work only for Madhavan, his cell phone camera relentlessly distorts his face and the mysterious neighbour's dog simply refuses to enter the flat with his master. Reason enough for rationalist Madhavan to press the panic button? Not until he chances upon a television soap that seems to be playing only in his house and the onscreen drama ends up predicting the events that gradually begin to plague the happy family. Goes without saying, the soap is extremely popular with the women in his house, till the blood begins to flow....And the only way Madhavan can protect his family is by becoming a TV addict himself and learning what's in store. It's an interesting tale, told well, with all the mandatory twists and turns in all the right places. Adding to this, is the complete spontaneity of the ensemble cast, ably led by Madhavan who is extremely endearing as the yuppie, torn between the supernatural and the real. Watch out for some zippy cinematography, a stylised monochrome tint and some snazzy editing. Great timepass. Go for it.

The credit for this review goes to Nikhat Kazmi From Times of India.
